Been meaning to make a pair of these for a while. This style of blacksmiths tongs was very common in Viking Age Scandinavia. These are based on the Mästermyr Gotland tool chest find and a 900-950AD grave find from Inste Smoge Norway.

Finished a project I’ve been working on for a few months now, a recreation of a 10-11C Latgallian axe excavated from a gravesite on the shores of Rušonu lake in Latvia.

Axe details:
* Hand forged mild steel and high carbon steel wrapped-eye axe head (16.5cm x 70cm)
* Hardwood haft wrapped with a 150cm strip of copper alloy (brass) punched with a decorative dot pattern fixed to the half with 3 brass nails
